The beginnings of the folk comb group will be discovered in 2004 in Mungia (Bizkaia). This new folk project began to take shape in the hands of musicians Agus Barandiaran (triki) and Mikel Romero (mandolin, guitar). They wanted to add to the folk music of the Basque Country, based on ancient melodies, current events, but always based on the framework of the trikitixa. Agus likes the lines of the traditional Guipuzcoan trikitixa and knows the sounds of Bizkaia from home, from the tradition of his family. It’s mostly that, a tradition supported by today’s technique. Korrontzi is a group that emerges from the roots of Basque music.
Korrontzi is very clear about his position within the folklore of the Basque Country after the live recording and publication of the double album entitled “Getxo”. It’s not just about the music, it’s about the show. To this end, Korrontzi and the Oinkari dance group began to collaborate, and the Korrontzi & Oinkari project is the result. There, the Oinkari dance group will dance to the trikitixa melodies of the folk group Korrontzi, who, along the same lines, in keeping with tradition, will dance choreographies adapted to the present day. On stage, the perfect combination of music and dance will prevail.
Mundua dantzan (The World Dancing) is an international tour that will combine music, dance and tradition from different countries.
The project maintains the essence of collaboration and will include local dance groups in each performance. This will strengthen the connections between the different generations of dancers and bring Korrontzi’s music to new stage formats.
The tour will end in March 2027 with a great show at the Bilbao Exhibition Center (BEC!). It will bring together 100 dance groups and more than 1,200 dancers.
In addition to music and dance, there will be invited artists. Rural sport will also participate in it, turning their movements into choreographies from an artistic point of view. They will also have special technical productions of lighting, sound and scenography.

Korrontzi and the former guitarist of Oskorri Bixente Martinez, Oihane Iartza and Urko Oskoz have joined the children’s group Ene Kantak in the project Gora Musika! Together they offer a children’s show in which the giants of Ezpelur also participate.
